Like mother, like daughter: beauty definitely runs deep in this family! It was hard to take a bad photo of this lovely mother and daughter, that is for sure! The prints from the photo shoot were a 90th birthday present for Katie’s grandfather, how very sweet! Love this family!

I gotta admit that I had a SERIOUSLY difficult time editing these images. I’m going to sound like a total cheeseball here but I don’t care! The reason? I don’t think I’ve ever felt such a palpable sense of love and friendship between two people as with these two. They are the quintessential peas in a pod. I kept tearing up while editing…good thing I have a keyboard protector for my computer! I am going to be a teary mess at their wedding, haha! Anyway, enough about my sentimentality, on to the photos!

Congrats Maggie and Mike! Your wedding is going to be so fun, I can’t wait!! I can’t help but feel that no matter how cool you or I’s weekend plans may be, these two would have something critical to say about them. And you know what? Who could argue with them?

Cross Country Roadtrip Adventure, Part V: California

And here we are, on the final leg of our cross-country adventure: from El Paso, TX to Redondo Beach, CA…in one day. It was going to be a long haul, but I was determined to make it!! After a week of 3000 miles of solo driving, I was ready to give my uber tan left arm a break. Not to mention that my car was starting to make some troubling noises.

The desert was mighty hot in Indio. I’ve never been to Coachella, but I can’t imagine how sweaty it must get.

Missed the monster truck rally I guess.

Another milestone!
We made it! Boss and Bhervi share coffee and convo together. It had been too long.
Boss sees the Pacific Ocean for the first time! Life is good.

Well, it was quite a journey! If you’ve never driven cross country before, do it. I’ve been lucky as this has been my fifth trip driving across the US. The first time I was eight years old on summer vacation with my dad and my brother. I’ll never forget the things I saw on that first trip – the Grand Canyon, a real live elk, my first rodeo, as well as my dad teaching me to drive (yes, at eight years old haha), those memories are forever burned in my mind. My subsequent cross country trips have always been filled with adventure with family and friends by my side. I’ll admit I was nervous about this trip and going it solo, but I wasn’t really alone, I had my trusty sidekick Randy by my side. And although I didn’t teach him to drive like my dad had taught me, he was still great company and a great adventure buddy. Maybe next time I’ll let him behind the wheel.
